Byrnes infuses the story with just the right mix of suspense and romance. The story is told in first person perspective from Reyna and Byrnes not Reyna fine job, giving his unique and distinctive have balance and nuance, not behind, but the images live images setting.
I enjoyed that Byrnes handle the inspirational message of the story, making it feel as natural, organic part and not forcing religious overtones.
Reyna and Jimmy are believable characters. Both are to overcome the pain of loss, but each to make their own way. What makes Reyna really grow as a character is a scene where she reaches for his hand Jimmy and asks him to pray. It was very dark, but poignant moment for them and defines them as a couple.
Is a sweet tale of romance readers Reyna and Jimmy share a kiss or two. "Purple node" draws the reader into the effort and do not let go until the last page.
